About the Teacher

Ms. Karen began to play the violin in the 3rd grade.  By the 9th grade she was playing with All-District Orchestras in Massachusetts and had played solo with the local community orchestra.   She studied under Virginia Loiselle at the university level and has a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from the University of Lowell (now UMASS at Lowell) in Massachusetts.

Ms. Karen then directed the string program grades 3-8 in the Marlborough Public School system in Massachusetts for several years before moving to Milan, Italy.  While in Italy, she played with L’Accademia Concertante d’Archi Di Milano Orchestra under the baton of Mauro Ivano Benaglia.  Upon returning to the United States, she played with the New Sussex Symphony in New Jersey under the baton of Karen Pinoci.  While in New Jersey, Ms. Karen ran a successful string studio and frequently played freelance.  Combined, Ms. Karen has over 18 years experience teaching at every level grades Preschool through High School.

She was the Preschool Music Director and Assistant Director at a local preschool in East Cobb.  Her duties included writing music lessons and curriculum to fit all of the ages that the preschool served.  She also wrote musical plays and programs, practiced with and directed performances for the  50+ children at the preschool.

Currently, she teaches private violin lessons,  general music classes to a local home school cooperative group and home schools her youngest son.

She is a member of the American String Teachers Association (ASTA).  Their website is www.astaweb.com
